I'm Going to Quilt Canada 2026

Yesterday, I received an amazing bag from Elizabeth Hanson who has travelled with me several times. It’s perfect for transporting an iron and it used an African waxed print we both purchased in the Netherlands. As I was admiring her work, I wished I was a better bag maker.
Which made me think of Tara Sinclair of Uh-Oh Creations (fellow BERNINA ambassador) and I reached out to see if she was teaching anywhere close. Then I realized that she was teaching at Quilt Canada this June.
It’s been a while since I’ve taken an in person workshop. I tend to purchase online classes more. But I learn so much more when I can ask an instructor questions specific to my own project. And this usually translates into me finishing the project.
Quilt Canada is in Winnipeg this year, and I already have my plane ticket. So within the hour I had signed up for not one, but three, classes. The first one is with Tara on her Howie Bag (TS-18) then an embellishment class with Sharon Fisher (SF-19) and a Beyond Binding class with Kathy Wylie (KW-20)...I have included their class codes for anyone that wants to join me.
I am beyond excited to take these classes from these great teachers.
Just an update on my trips. My Christmas Cruise only has 5 remaining rooms to book. If you are like me and tend to wait until the snow has melted from last Christmas before thinking about the next, please do not delay. We have some fantastic excursions planned as well. So lots of chocolate, music and holiday cheer. Christmas Market River Cruise in November/December.
And, FYI, the French & Belgium Textile Tour is sold out and we have started a wait list.
Karen's Quilt Circle
I have had some amazing guests on the podcast so far this year. Costume Brenda was fabulous sharing her stories of working on musicals and shows on and off Broadway. Bill Johnson shared his love of Featherweight sewing machines giving all of us a bad case of FOMO. And Mary Davis talked about her adventures in mid-arm quilting. Please, take a moment and listen to them all. You won’t regret it; just click on the photo.
Listen to any of my Karen's Quilt Circle podcasts on the YouTube Music app here.
Live Q&A
Don't miss the monthly question and answer time with me on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm EST. Ask Me Anything!
Karen's Quilt Crew
The next meeting of the Crew is going to be delayed by a week, given that we met late in February. Join us for comradery and great conversation.

And, even though we're done posting the videos and emails, it's not too late to join in the Sewing Room Declutter Challenge for 2026. You can start any time and go at the pace that suits you. Daily emails will not be sent out now that we have finished the live portion, so no need to sign up on the website. You can watch the playlist here.
Take care,
Karen
