No School For Me

I think one of the weirdest changes that happens when your kids get older is that Labour Day no longer signals big changes. For the first 5 decades of my life, the first Monday in September was my day of new resolutions and another chance to put my best foot forward, first as a student and then as a mother.

Now, Labour Day comes and goes with little hint of a holiday Monday though it does include a visit from my kids.

Last week, I did manage one last moment of summer. I spent three days north of the city with my Susans…the quilters that I make baby quilts for St. Michael’s Hospital with. I met Susan on my way to Quiltcon 2017. And she introduced me to her sewing buddy who is also a Susan! And, since then, we have managed to have at least one sew-fest a year to make quilts, eat well and enjoy the peace and quilt of life outside the city.

I chose not to pack 10 projects. Instead, I just took my old trusty BERNINA 910 and my basket full of children’s fabric.

I found a couple of projects that I had forgotten. And some big blocks that I have little recollection of making. And a baby quilt kit that I also totally forgot.

In the end I made 7 quilt tops. Tops that I did not have to use math, complicated software, or any other mental gymnastics. Just simple sewing, and it felt great.

Karen's Quilt Circle

A.I. (artificial intelligence) is all around us. It tells us what to watch, evaluates our credit score and helps us get to where we are going. But can it really help us design our next quilt? And, more importantly, are we ready to let it? Theresa Benson, also known as the AI Quilter, recently published The Digital Muse: Bringing AI Into Your Creative Process. It is both detailed and approachable, and she is going to tell us all about it. You can watch my interview here.

Travel with Karen

Here is your best opportunity to signup (with absolutely no pressure from me!) for my next cruising adventure. We are advertising the 2026 cruise early. For information on the trip, click here: www.justgetitdonequilts.com/events

I am returning to the city nicely refreshed…and maybe a few pounds heavier.

Take care.

The topic of MBBS in Germany for Indian students fees is something many aspirants are curious about, especially since Germany is often seen as an affordable option for medical studies. Understanding details like semester contributions, living expenses, and language preparation costs really helps in realistic planning. I’ve seen similar balanced explanations on Education Vibes that focus more on clarity than promotion, which is useful for students comparing different study destinations.

I bought a fake associates degree from edudiplomaonline.com, all contents are correct and gold-shining embossed seal is exactly same as my friend’s real one. Quality is so great and shipping is fast! Really appreciate it!
