Thanksgiving in October

ree

This week, I am in the mountains. It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada so my husband, my youngest and I are sharing it with my third born and his partner in British Columbia. And we have been warned to bring our winter coats.

“Rocky Mountain High” was on repeat in my brain as I packed, trying not to bring too much…like I am only allowed to bring one sewing project. 😎 My camera gear is always problematic. I no longer bring a DSLR as my iphone can take amazing photos…but it’s the Insta 360 and my drone (gift from my husband) that I am not sure about. I can get some cool footage but it's at the cost of lugging them around. And every piece of electronics has their batteries and chargers to clutter up my bag too. After my ‘lost luggage’ in the UK this past summer, my medicine and my computer will definitely be in my purse.  Here are a few shots I took on Friday; I'm glad I brought my gear.

Earlier this week, I had a glorious drive in the countryside with a car full of dogs. Not much better than driving with the windows down through the forests of reds, yellows and oranges. After I delivered the grandpups to my daughter’s, I left my dog, Mando, with my parents. I hate to leave him but he will have a great time chasing the squirrels, barn cats and Canada geese.

Live Q&A

The November Live Q&A is canceled due to my Indonesian cruise. Keep an eye on the newsletter for changes to periodic events due to the holidays over the next few months, just in case things to move.

Karen's Quilt Crew

Because of my trip west, the crew will meet on Sunday, October 19th. The next installment of our Block of the Month (BOM) program will be from 12-2 pm (zoom link in the membership page on my YouTube channel soon). It's never too late to join the BOM and all previous classes were recorded and are available on our group membership page. I hope to see you then!

Karen's Quilt Circle

Subscription boxes can be a wonderful way to add fabrics and projects to your stash. It’s also fun to work virtually alongside others on the same blocks, building community and friendships. Monika Henry wanted to participate in a Canadian themed subscription box. And when she could not find any, decided to start one of her own. Watch my interview with her here.
