Quilt Shows and World Traveling

Can you believe June is already behind us? It absolutely flew by for me — between family gatherings for Canada Day, Quilt Canada, catching up with friends from last year's Holland trip, and finally spending a weekend at a quilt retreat with my sew sisters. Plus, I've been taking care of Mando after his orthopedic surgery. It's been a jam-packed 30 days!

Last week, I shared a video showing everything I brought home from Quilt Canada and QuiltCon this year. Many of you asked for links to the items I mentioned. I don’t have a shop (the video was just for fun!) but, since I received so many requests, here are the online links for those who are curious:

Now we’re into July, and the year is officially half over. Every summer, I love doing a mini clean-up in my sewing room. It’s my way of clearing out old projects and pushing new ones toward the finish line.
During my tidy-up, I discovered a few forgotten gems — like a wedding quilt for my nephew that just needs quilting (how did I forget that?) and an old quilt top waiting to go home to its owner. It feels great to uncover these and make a plan to finish them.
Of course, there are also new projects calling my name — including some fun stashbusters that I can’t wait to dive into. There will be lots of quilting in my future!

Speaking of the future: at the end of this month, I’m off to the UK! I’ll be meeting up with Jenni Smith and Kay Walsh to visit the Welsh Quilt Centre before heading to Birmingham for The Festival of Quilts.
I’ll be giving two lectures there. The lectures will be: 535-The Joy of Symmetry and 542-Be the Best Quilter You Can Be. You can purchase tickets at: thefestivalofquilts.seetickets.com I'd love to see you there!

There’s more travel planned in August and into autumn, so I’m already stacking up my slow sewing projects to keep my hands busy on the go.
Karen's Quilt Crew
This Sunday, July 13th is the next installment of our Block of the Month (BOM) program for Crew Members. We'll meet from 12-2 pm (zoom link in the membership page on my YouTube channel). It's never too late to join the BOM and all previous classes were recorded and are available on our group membership page. I hope to see you Sunday when we tackle the "dreaded" snowball!

The rest of the Crew will join us for a Stitch and Chat from 2-4 pm. If you don't know how to join, go to my YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/justgetitdonequilts/join and follow the prompts for joining. See you Sunday!

Karen's Quilt Circle
One of the great parts of a quilt show is going through the quilts and noticing how quilting techniques are developing and evolving. A quilter taking something that’s tried and true and pushing it to the limit. Fiona Johnstone did just that. Her quilt was full of 1 inch and 1/2 inch curves. And it just leaves you gasping, “How could you possibly sew that small?” And she’s going to tell us all about it and how she continues to push herself. You can watch my interview here.
Listen to any of my Karen's Quilt Circle podcasts on the YouTube Music app here.
In May, after a year of preparation, months of zoom meetings and a lot of class prep, I kissed my dog good-bye and headed to Amsterdam for our 13 day cruise through Scandinavia. It was such an adventure with great new & old friends so stick with me and I'll tell you all about it here.
Travel with Karen
The cruise to Indonesia in the fall is sold out! I just cannot believe how fast tickets are selling. To give you the best opportunity to signup (with absolutely no pressure from me!) we are advertising the 2026 cruise early. For information on the trip, click here: www.justgetitdonequilts.com/events
Wishing you all a wonderful July — may it be full of finished projects, new inspirations, and joyful sewing!
Take care.
