Two Big Announcements

A little over 6 years ago I launched my Youtube Channel. I had no idea what I was doing; and, honestly, I didn’t know a lot about Youtube either. But I do like a challenge. And I am so thankful and proud to say that last week I passed the 400K subscriber mark!

Though Youtube does not give out any plaques for 400K, I am lucky that my husband made me a lovely one that I am happy to hang on my wall.

Whenever I stop and try to digest 400,000 I can barely believe it. It’s such a massive amount that my subscribers could fill Toronto’s biggest sports arena 5 times over. Thank you everyone for your support through the years. I never tire of the wonderful community we have built together.

My second big announcement is that I will be hosting my first online course this month with my Quilt Crew. It’s all about Foundation Paper Piecing and is Sunday, May 19 from 11 am to 2 pm EST.

And I have made it FREE to all members of Karen’s Quilt Crew. To join the crew click here. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQt_y4kqMQlG1id0n975DVg/join

Also free to members will be 10 foundation paper piece patterns. We will be making the Evergreen Tree block, I have 3 sizes and two options for each. Plus, there will be three different huts/homes. Again, 3 sizes and two options for each.

To download the supply sheet, go to this page. https://rb.gy/363guh or use the QR code provided below:

The link to the zoom meeting will be on the community page of my Youtube Channel. I hope to see you there!

Upcoming events

The next Live Q&A will be Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00 pm EST. You'll be able to ask me anything! Be sure to turn on notifications in YouTube so you don't miss it.

My next Stitch’n Chat, before the Paper Piecing class, with Karen’s Quilt Crew is on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00am EST. To honour Mother's Day, we are moving from our regular Sunday timeframe.  If you are a member, you will find the zoom link on the Just Get It Done Quilts community page.

Join me and Verstaet travels in September for our textile tour of the Netherlands and Belgium. We are staying in the beautiful old town of Zutphen and have our own private coach as we tour around. There are open air markets, quilt stores, lace, linen, African wax prints, museums and even a couple of local sew-lebrities to join us on the bus. I hope that you can join us too. Just click on this link for more information.

Karen's Quilt Circle

Last week on Karen’s Quilt Circle, I had the pleasure of speaking with Karlee Porter about Graffiti Quilting. Over 10 years ago, Karlee launched her signature style of quilting with her first book - Graffiti Quilting. Machine quilting has never looked so gorgeous! Basically, it's a mashup of all kinds of unexpected designs in the same quilted area. It also involves breaking lots of "quilting rules" to achieve a very unique and extremely personalised look. You can watch the video here.

Listen to any of my Karen's Quilt Circle podcasts on the YouTube Music app here

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, May 19th for the paper piecing class.

Take care

I absolutely love your tutorials and your chats. Your upbeat attitude allows me to have conficence in myself. I have learned how to better handle my stash, and use up my stash. I just finished another stash quilt for missions. Our church quilting gals have donated hundreds of quilts to local fire victims, womnen's shelters, and to a non profit sending containers to the Ukraine. We have also donated small quilts for wheel chair size to Joni and Friends. Most of the fabric has been donated by our members. We purchase the batting. Thanks for the encouragement. Keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Karen - congratulations on the 400000! I have learned so many tricks and tips from you and have often quoted you when helping someone in my sewing and quilting group. Thank you for your wisdom and insights and the fact you are prepared to share the few mistakes with us.
